State Shaping Opportunities Analysis

In 2019, the NSW Government began developing a Faster Rail Strategy for NSW to identify opportunities for improved rail services to 2056. The vision for the network was to provide a catalyst for economic growth across regional NSW by improving travel between regional centres, cities and international gateways.

The Fast Rail Strategy comprehensively assesses a Fast Rail network and develops a staged delivery blueprint to 2056.

Four corridors have been identified for fast rail routes (Northern, Southern Inland, Western and Southern Coastal).

What we are doing

Since 2018, members of the Atlas team have been providing advice on land use opportunities and growth forecasts in the route corridors which informed development of Strategic Business Cases.

Atlas is currently engaged within a multi-disciplinary consortium to investigate state shaping opportunities for the Fast Rail Strategy, which will assist implementation and staging of the program and Final Business Cases.
