Kiama Town Centre Development Control Review
Development Feasibility Analysis
Kiama is a town in the southern part of the Illawarra region with a strong local character. Its proximity to Wollongong and Sydney contributes to its desirability as a place to live and do business in. In 2019 Kiama Municipal Council commissioned a Town Centre Study for future strategic planning within the Kiama town centre.
Following endorsement of the Town Centre Study, Council commenced a review of development controls in the town centre. Atlas is part of a multi-disciplinary team undertaking a review and update of existing development controls in the Kiama town centre.
The project considers the role and function of prominent and strategic sites, the commercial realities of development activity and potential outcomes that support the local character of the town centre. Development feasibility analysis tests for development controls that support a sustainable and vibrant town centre.
The findings of the review will inform the Kiama Development Control Plan 2020.
