Bass Coast Shire Industrial Land Use Strategy
Economic and Industrial Lands Analysis
Bass Coast Shire is to the south-east of metropolitan Melbourne. Bass Coast combines rural, residential and holiday lifestyles set against the backdrops of beaches, bushland and hills.
As one of the fastest growing municipalities in regional Victoria, Bass Coast Shire Council recognises the need to ensure the highly valued natural environment is balanced by sustainable and sensitive development, population, and economic growth.
The Bass Coast Industrial Land Use Strategy (BILUS) forms part of a suite of high-level land use strategies to manage growth in Bass Coast Shire. With the support of this project, the BILUS will develop a shared vision for industrial land and identify the type and scope of change projected for industrial land over time.
What we did
The Economic Analysis examined how demand for industrial lands is evolving and expected to evolve and consequently how the demand for different industrial typologies is influenced.
A Supply and Demand Assessment audited the current supply of industrial land as well as land identified for future industrial use. It identified if projected demand for industrial land could be met within the planning framework or if planning interventions were required.
The Economic Analysis and Supply and Demand Assessment were formally adopted by Bass Coast Shire Council in March 2022.
