Vertical Innovation Village at Haymarket
Economic Impact Assessment
187 Thomas Street, Haymarket is located at the southern end of the Sydney CBD in an area of emerging technology and creative industries fostered by the presence of different tertiary and research institutions.
Greaton’s proposal will facilitate the development of commercial space in different configurations and multiple uses in a vertically integrated tower. At the heart of the proposal is an innovation hub that will accommodate workspace for innovation enterprises, start-up businesses, hotel accommodation for business visitors together with retail and events space.
In 2021 the City of Sydney Council finalised the Central Sydney Planning Strategy which reviewed Central Sydney’s planning framework for the first time in nearly 50 years. The planning framework provides a path for investment and growth in Central Sydney that is supported by new infrastructure. It identifies tower cluster areas where design excellence floor space incentives are available for development within the cluster areas.
The site is located within one of the Central Sydney Planning Strategy’s tower cluster areas.
What we did

The outcome
The planning proposal was unanimously supported by the City of Sydney Council and new planning controls for the site were gazetted in October 2021.
